In this course, we will start from the very beginning - looking at how to gain relevant information at admit, how extra details and consideration of the patients handling and environment can aid in reducing pre-and post-operative stress. We will discuss the preparation of the surgical suite and surgical team and how this can have an impact on patient outcome before we look at nursing considerations for some of the more common surgical cases we see in practice.
